Jacob Kamen, PhD


Dr. Kamen completed his graduate work in the Nuclear Engineering program of Columbia University where he spent several years at the Medical Department of Brookhaven National Laboratory.  At Brookhaven, he was involved in the Body Composition and Boron Neutron Capture Therapy project which was performed in the Medical Research Reactor.  His post-doctoral fellowship was in Radiation Oncology.  He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of Health Physics, at the Columbia University Medical Center, the New York University Medical Center and the Mount Sinai Medical Center.  He has had faculty appointments with Manhattan College, New York University and presently is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He was elected as the president of the Greater New York Chapter of Health Physics (GNYCHP) in 2004 and recently as the President of the GNYCHP Executive Council for 2010-2011.  He is board certified by the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) and the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) as well as the Board of Laser Safety
