Dr. Garwood has 40 years of experience as a general and developmental pediatrician at academic medical institutions. He has been at Mount Sinai and the affiliate at Elmhurst Hospital Center for the past 25 years. His clinical focus has been the evaluation of children with developmental delays and disorders and assessing very premature infants. In addition, Dr. Garwood has focused on teaching pediatric residents and medical students in the clinic setting providing an understanding of the developmental problems and appropriate communication with families. Formal didactic lectures covering the full range of developmental disabilities have been given in both institutions as well as less formal discussions on inpatient rounds. Presently, Dr. Garwood has limited his clinical practice to supervising the evaluation of children and premature babies at Elmhurst Hospital Center.
