Dr. Richard Lopchinsky is a surgical oncologist and limits his practice to breast, head & neck tumors, and skin tumors. Dr. Lopchinsky received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He did his general surgical training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, and completed his fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 1980.

In addition to a busy private practice and teaching at Mount Sinai, Dr. Lopchinsky is active in several local and national surgical societies. He was the President of the New York Head and Neck Society in 2004-2005. He currently serves on the Public Policy Committee of the American Society of Breast Disease and has served on committees of the American Head and Neck Society.

Dr. Lopchinsky has contributed to the surgical literature, mostly recently on a minimally invasive technique for removing breast masses. He is the only surgeon in the area who can perform minimally invasive (stereotactic and ultrasound guided) biopsies in addition to the traditional open surgical biopsies. He also performs minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, allowing patients to go home 1-2 hours after surgery.
