Dr. Uysal’s research has focused on neurocognitive outcomes and neuroprotection in cardiac surgery.  She is a co-editor of a clinical handbook titled Neuroprotection in Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine, with co-editors David L. Reich, MD and Stephan A. Mayer, M.D. (Oxford University Press, 2018).  Past clinical research areas include functional cortical mapping in epilepsy surgery candidates and quality of life following traumatic brain injury.  Prior to that she worked in basic behavioral neuroscience research on studies focused on neural mechanisms related to substance abuse disorders and schizophrenia.
